Rockets guard Dennis Schroder has officially picked a side in the 2022 NBA Finals.

After Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Schroder went viral for showing off his new ink, which comes in the form of the Celtics’ mascot, Lucky the Leprechaun:

Considering Schroder has played just 49 games for Boston in his career, it’s certainly an interesting move to have the team’s logo plastered on his leg.

His tenure in Boston wasn’t exactly pretty either, given that he rubbed shoulders with many of the players there:

“Anybody that’s played in the NBA or a professional sport, you know it’s a high-intensity game, and guys care,” said Tatum after an altercation with Schroder. “It’s nothing personal. It’s nothing more than that. We’re just trying to figure things out. When there are 19,000 people in the arena, it’s hard to have an inside voice. Just two passionate guys who care about winning, nothing more than that, we’re fine, and we move on.”

Schroder has always been an interesting character, and his career over the past few years has been nothing short of crazy. After some solid years in Oklahoma City, Schroder joined the Lakers during the 2020-21 season as a backup guard with plenty of minutes. Early on, he played well and was even offered a huge extension from the Lakers before he turned it down.

In a wild twist, he became almost unplayable towards the end of the season and fans turned on him in record-breaking time. He eventually played his way out of L.A. and was left with no other choice than to sign a deal with the Celtics for something close to the minimum.

He was traded to Houston before a full season with the C’s, and it’s unlikely he’ll ever go back. Still, it’s pretty clear he feels some strong connection to the franchise and it will be interesting to see how he celebrates if they end up winning it all.
