Dennis Schroder made a bold statement after the Los Angeles Lakers to a 123-117 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, saying he would even play through injuries to get his team into the playoffs.

Speaking to Lakers’ reporter Mike Trudell in the aftermath of the win, the guard, despite turning his ankle said his objective to was help the side make the postseason.

“Everything for the team,” Schroder said. “We’re trying to get through to the playoffs, and AD was down tonight, Bron was down. I just tried to help out and get a win for the team.”

The guard finished with 26 points, 2 rebounds, and 6 assists as the Lakers, minus the services of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and D’Angelo Russell, notched up a much-needed win to get closer to making the postseason.

The German gave LA another injury scare when he clutched his left ankle in the first quarter, but he stayed in the contest and made 8 of his 18 shots to help the Lakers get over the finish line.

Anthony Davis Expected To Play Against The Timberwolves, But D’Angelo Russell And LeBron James Set To Miss The Clash

The Lakers will receive a boost in the form of Anthony Davis as they gear up to take the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday. The big man will be expected to shoulder the scoring load in James and Russell’s absence.

However, with Schroder, Austin Reaves, and Lonnie Walker IV in the mix and chipping in with sizeable contributions, the Lakers will breathe easy and not worry about their heavy reliance on James, who is set to miss at least two weeks of basketball action.

Their win against the Thunder now puts the Purple and Gold 30-33, a win away from breaking into the top 10 — something they have struggled to do all season long. With 19 games left, the side needs to win as many as they can to give themselves the best chance to bag a postseason berth.

The Lakers have two tough assignments coming up. They take on a belligerent Timberwolves on Friday, followed by a skirmish against the Golden State Warriors after.
