Draymond Green was not overly impressed by the Indiana Pacers beating the Knicks and reaching the Eastern Conference Finals. In an episode of his podcast, Draymond Green noted that he stands by calling the Pacers a regular-season team, and their beating the Knicks was not impressive. He added that he thinks the Boston Celtics will defeat the Pacers in 5 games to reach the NBA Finals.

Draymond: “‘Do you owe the Pacers an apology for calling them an 82-game team?’. And the answer is no. You got to take your hat off to the Indiana Pacers. I still personally think they’re an 82-game team. But I didn’t think the Knicks was real so like somebody had to get there… Now you get Boston. They played well defensively versus New York. It’s a different animal. This is a totally different animal. I got Boston, no problem. Should be a gentleman’s sweep. So, no, there’s no apologies. They got to the Conference finals. Somebody have to get there. It’s the East. We get it. Somebody’s got to go. But congrats to them. That’s dope. I think this is going to be the end of the road for them.”

Draymond Green has been a vocal critic of many teams in the Eastern Conference during these playoffs. Most recently, he claimed that the Knicks were a fluke in the playoffs and that they were not a legitimate contender, something he stood by in his comments about the Pacers as well. Clearly, Green is not a believer in many teams in the Eastern Conference.

Even though he noted that the Boston Celtics were the favorites to beat the Pacers, Green has asked questions about the Celtics and their championship pedigree. He recently noted that it would be a failure if the Celtics did not win an NBA championship this season with the amazing roster that they have assembled.

Draymond Green Has Been A Vocal Critic This Offseason

With the Warriors losing in the play-in tournament, Draymond Green has been part of the media coverage of the NBA playoffs. Green has shared a lot of takes on several teams while serving as an analyst on Inside the NBA, or just on his podcast like he did with the Pacers.

Green has always been a polarizing figure for his aggressive and provoking style of play on the court. But his words have now started to garner the same degree of vitriol that his play does. Recently, he told Knicks fans that he didn’t want to hear any excuses about injuries in the wake of their elimination from the NBA playoffs.

Green hasn’t gotten away without anyone confronting him though. On Inside the NBA, Charles Barkley called out Draymond Green for defending Stephen Curry being named the NBA’s most clutch player for the 2023-24 NBA season. So Green’s arguments have been placed under the microscope regularly.

From now on, Draymond Green is expected to be part of Inside The NBA’s team for the NBA Finals, which will add yet another experienced voice to the panel, especially one that has very recent experience playing championship-level basketball in the NBA.
