Draymond Green is about as controversial as they come in the NBA. The All-NBA swingman has made a career out of toeing the line and, his weekend, he became the subject of backlash yet again after his latest media statements. This time, he sparked outrage over his “support” of Hornets forward Miles Bridges, who was involved in an ugly domestic violence incident.

“Miles [Bridges] is my guy, that’s my little brother so I’m not gonna sit here and go in on Miles,” said Draymond. “Miles can do no wrong to me.”

Interestingly enough, Draymond was going after Hornets swingman Grant Williams here for his “trash talk” in a recent game but he doesn’t seem to mind at all about Miles Bridges or his past and many fans were quick to call him out for throwing his support to such a controversial figure.

Of course, for some fans, it’s rather predictable that Draymond would say something like this given his history of controversies.

The irony of calling out Grant Williams while talking up Miles Bridges was not lost on the fans and even though Bridges had his case dropped in court, the things he was accused of still leave a bad taste in the mouths of many.

Of course, Draymond isn’t the one who was involved in the incident and it’s not out of line for him to support Bidges’ NBA career. But to say publicly that he can “do no wrong” is just a bad look and sends the wrong kind of message.

The full scope of Bridges’ domestic violence cases is pretty brutal but the records indicate that Bridges may have thrown billiard balls threw the windshield of his ex-girlfriend’s car… with the woman and their small child still in the vehicle.

Draymond Green Is In Hot Water

Draymond Green has already demonstrated that he cares little for what the fans or media think of his actions but it’s caused some serious problems over the past two seasons. In fact, Draymond Green has been the biggest source of chaos for Golden State since their 2022 championship run and he’s been on a particularly condemnable streak lately.

Gong back to the 2022-23 season, Draymond started it by punching his own teammate, Jordan Poole, square in the face which led to a huge domino effect that resulted in his former teammate getting shipped out of town.

In the 2023-24 campaign, Draymond has gone completely off the rails, as shown by the antics that got him suspended earlier this season. Between taking swings at players, going at referees, and starting social media beef with his opponents, Dray has been out of control for a while now and fans are starting to speak out.

But regardless of the backlash, Draymond Green isn’t going to change for anybody or anything. He’s going to be himself on the court no matter what and he’s going to say whatever he wants in front of the media and fans. Unfortunately for Green, that strategy isn’t making him popular in the NBA community and his latest comments on Miles Bridges have only given the critics another thing to count against him.
