The Boston Celtics kept their hopes of pulling off an incredible comeback from down 3-0 alive when they beat the Miami Heat in Game 5 to cut the deficit to 3-2.
They are now two wins away from becoming the first team to ever win a series after going down 3-0 and Draymond Green is certainly hoping they get it done.
“Can they (Heat) close the deal? I don’t know, man,” Green said on The Draymond Green Show. “That’s an interesting one. The first team to come back from a 3-0 deficit? We would love to see it, wouldn’t we? Maybe I won’t have to hear about 3-1 anymore if this team comes back from 3-0. You could throw the 3-1 in the dirt. I’m sick of it. Would be a much better story, for me personally. Be a much better story.”

Unfortunately for Draymond, the Golden State Warriors blowing a 3-1 lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 Finals would still remain the greatest comeback in NBA history in the eyes of many. The Warriors back then were a 73-win juggernaut that was supposed to win coming into the series and they just had no answers for LeBron James and Kyrie Irving over the last three games.
The Heat, meanwhile, were underdogs who it appears, might have been playing out of their minds to go up 3-0. Miami was also an eighth seed that did so well to even get this far despite being hampered by injuries and while it would be embarrassing to blow this lead, it still won’t compare to 2016. Those 3-1 jokes won’t be going anywhere, no matter how badly Draymond may wish for them to disappear.
Can The Celtics Actually Pull It Off?
It was clear coming into this series that the Celtics were the more talented team, but the Heat just kept outplaying them in the first three games. Key to that was their advantage when it came to the three-point shooting but that has flipped in these last two games.
The Celtics have gone a combined 34-84 (40.4%) from beyond the arc in Games 4 and 5 while the Heat went 17-55 (30.9%). If this trend continues, then the Celtics will win this series. Miami desperately needs to rediscover its shooting touch from the first three games when they were 44-92 (47.8%) from three or else they are in deep trouble. Jimmy Butler guaranteed they would end the series in Game 6 and they better do it, as it is hard to see them winning Game 7 in Boston.
