Draymond Green is one step closer to returning from his highly controversial suspension for punching Jusuf Nurkic during a game on December 12. He’s been cleared to return to the court and decided to drop the first episode of his new season of the Draymond Green Show earlier today.

In a packed episode, one of the things he revealed was that LeBron James reached out to him with concern after what went down.

“Bron checking in, ‘Yo, just want you to know that we with you. We love you champ. We ride with you. Do whatever you gotta do. Know that we are with you.’”

LeBron and Draymond’s friendship is not a secret, with both sharing Rich Paul as their agent and being business partners. While the animosity between them was much higher in the mid-2010s, they’ve been good friends for years now. Green has a lot of respect for James, so his reaching out would’ve been heartwarming for the Warriors forward.

It’s unclear when Green will make his on-court return after being cleared to return by the Warriors and the NBA. He was suspended for the second time this season earlier in December for punching Jusuf Nurkic on a play for no reason. The suspension that came before it was due to Green locking Rudy Gobert in a chokehold.

Green has only played 15 games as the Warriors are having a nightmarish season with a 17-19 record and the possibility they fall to 12th seed tonight if the Jazz win their game against the Bucks. Green’s return is necessary if Golden State wants a chance of making the playoffs.

Adam Silver Had To Talk Draymond Green Out Of Retiring

Draymond Green shared a vulnerable moment in his first podcast of the season. After rising frustrations over the last two seasons, Green’s attack on Gobert and Nurkic was a cry for help. He told NBA Commissioner Adam Silver that he wished to retire from the game after he was suspended indefinitely. However, the Commissioner would convince Green to get through his problems and return to the court.

“I told him, ‘Adam, this is too much for me… It’s all becoming too much for me, and I’m going to retire.’ And Adam said, ‘You’re making a very rash decision, and I won’t let you do that.'” (24:07)

According to Green, the conversation was both long and impactful, providing him with the support he needed during a challenging period. It clearly motivated him to return to get the help he needed to return to the court. It was a very emotional period for the four-time champion, but he’s come out on the other end a happy man.

Hopefully, whenever Green returns, we can discuss the importance of his defense and playmaking as compared to talking about his violent outbursts. The Warriors haven’t indicated when Green will return, but he should find himself in the lineup within the next week, given the Warriors record.
