Draymond Green Reveals His NBA Bubble “Sleeper Teams”

3 Min Read

The 2019-20 NBA season may be one of the most unpredictable in NBA history. While teams like the Bucks, Lakers, and Clippers may seem like easy favorites to win the title, the current state of things in the “bubble” has put every team and player in uncharted territory.

Anything can happen at this point and even squads who may be considered “underdogs” could go far in the playoffs.

In an appearance on The Steam Room podcast, Warriors star Draymond Green revealed his two sleeper teams of the NBA restart. He started with the Rockets in the West, lauding the partnership between Russ and Harden.

“They got Russ (Russell Westbrook), they got James (Harden) — who obviously can both go for 40 or 50 on any given night,” he said as transcribed by Drew Shiller of NBC Sports. “They got a bunch of shooters and they’re going to create problems for people, because they’re playing this switching defense.”

In the East, he went with the Miami Heat.

“They play really hard, they got guys that are tied together,” the three-time NBA champion explained. “They got my guy Andre (Iguodala), who we know during the Finals and playoffs is great. The only thing with the Heat is they struggle at times to find consistent scoring.

“But they got a lot of talent, a lot of pieces.”

The Rockets and Heat have both had stellar seasons. Lead by their stars and a group of complimentary role-players, both teams have what it takes to make some serious noise.

For Houston, Russ and Harden are clearly among the NBA’s best duos, but questions remain about whether or not they have enough defensively to overcome their competitors in the West.

The Miami Heat, meanwhile, are still unproven and it remains to be seen if Adebayo and Butler are capable of taking this team to the top.

Either way, it’s easy to see why Draymond would pick them as his sleep teams. They’ve got star power, depth, and a drive to win that is unmistakable.
