The Boston Celtics are one of the most historically successful franchises in the entire NBA. The Celtics were the first truly dominant force in the league, controlling the entire league for most of the 60s behind Bill Russell and his legendary teammates. And a part of what had always made the Celtics so good is their arena, and the Boston Crowd knows how to bring it like very few others in the league.

There are some negatives, LeBron James recently took a shot at them, but for the most part, it’s an excellent environment for high-stakes basketball. And since winning is expected in Boston, they try to take every advantage they can get to ensure it. The locker rooms in the Boston Garden for visiting teams were notoriously terrible to keep them uncomfortable, and it seems that this hasn’t changed in the new TD Garden either.

The Celtics got very close to replicating their past exploits in the 2021-22 season, falling two games short of winning the championship. And in the Eastern Conference Finals, they played a tough series against the Miami Heat. Heat player Duncan Robinson has now spoken about the locker rooms in TD Garden, absolutely trashing them in an episode of his podcast in conversation with Pat Connaughton.

“The Boston Celtics locker room is the worst visiting team locker room in the entire NBA,” Connaughton said.

“If you walked in and you said, ‘This is a high school locker room,’ I would say, ‘That’s a really s—– high school locker room.’”

That is a big claim but an unsurprising one, the Celtics as an organization care only about winning. Robinson himself will perhaps need to focus less on all this and more on what’s happening on the court, he had a rough playoff run despite the Heat’s success. In any case, the Celtics will likely take this as a compliment as they continue their endeavor to cross the final hurdle and win another championship.
