Dwight Howard, the veteran NBA center, recently responded to comparisons and discussions about his career on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, where Trevor Ariza expressed admiration for Howard’s contributions to the game. Ariza and Sharpe emphasized how Howard, despite being a dominant force in his prime, has faced undue disrespect throughout his career.

“At some point the disrespect gotta stop lol. Take the name Dwight Howard away and just look at the numbers & accolades and you won’t doubt what that “player” has done for basketball.”

“If you worked as hard as me on & off that basketball court and achieved everything you ever dreamed to do in life you would smile too.”

Taking to Instagram, Howard shared a clip from the podcast and addressed the criticism, asserting that the disrespect towards him needs to stop. In the caption, Howard encouraged people to look beyond his name and focus on the numbers and accolades he has amassed over his illustrious career. He challenged doubters to consider his achievements on and off the basketball court, highlighting the hard work that has propelled him to success.

Ariza and Sharpe acknowledged Howard’s goofier persona, suggesting that it might have led people to overlook his on-court accomplishments. They emphasized that Howard’s playful demeanor shouldn’t overshadow his achievements, comparing him to other NBA legends like Magic Johnson, who successfully combined a smile with a killer instinct.

The discussion on Howard’s legacy gained traction, especially considering his omission from the NBA All-Time Top 75 list in 2021. Despite being an eight-time All-Star, three-time Defensive Player of the Year, and an NBA champion, Howard’s contributions have sometimes been undervalued in broader conversations about basketball greatness.

As Howard navigates the twilight of his career, he remains determined to showcase his skills. Despite not securing an NBA roster spot in the recent offseason, Howard continues to pursue opportunities, whether in the European basketball scene or Australia’s NBL league, demonstrating his enduring passion for the game.

Royce Reed Says There Is No NBA Return For Dwight Howard

Royce Reed, in a recent interview on VladTV, shared her doubts about Dwight Howard making a return to the NBA. Reed, who is known for her involvement in reality TV and was once romantically linked with Howard, expressed skepticism about the NBA community’s willingness to embrace Howard due to what she perceives as drama unrelated to basketball.

According to Reed, who was part of certain social circles during her time as a dancer and reality TV personality, there seems to be a collective hesitation or lack of support for Howard within these circles. She attributed this skepticism to the perceived drama that Howard brings with him, which extends beyond his performance on the basketball court.

Emphasizing the high-stakes nature of the NBA as a billion-dollar industry, Reed hinted that decision-makers within the league might be wary of associating with Howard, given his off-court controversies. It’s noteworthy that Reed clarified her concerns were not based on Howard’s personal choices but rather on the drama that, in her view, he introduces into the sports industry.

Despite Howard’s recent efforts to return to the NBA, including a trial with the Golden State Warriors, Reed’s comments suggest that the league’s decision-makers may be apprehensive about welcoming him back due to potential disruptions and drama that could accompany his return.
