In a chat on the ‘I Am Athlete’ podcast last year, NBA superstar Dwyane Wade got real on subjects relating to basketball, life, and culture. In the nearly two-hour episode, Wade revealed a lot about himself and some of the relationships he has formed through his career in the NBA.

In one particular segment, he even spoke about his ex-teammate LeBron James, who he won two championships with while on the Miami Heat. He showered LeBron in heaps of praise and also made sure to take a lighthearted jab at him that has gone viral online.

“I know guys who rolled their ankle be out 4 weeks. I’ve seen this guy roll his ankle and come back and give you 20 in the 4th… When God made him he said, ‘alright imma give you all this, but… I ain’t gonna give you no hairline.’”

As one of LeBron’s best friends and teammates, D-Wade is allowed to poke fun at the basketball legend. During their days in Miami, they dominated the league and built a bond together that will last a lifetime.

In a recent appearance on the “Point Forward” podcast, Wade spoke about what it was like to play with the guy.

“I never thought we was going to play together. Like it never crossed my mind. Playing in the All-Star games and playing in the summer games and playing in the Olympics, that’s one thing, but playing the NBA season together that’s 82, that’s way different. You know how hard that is to think about playing with another ball-dominated guy. It wasn’t as many shots as it is now, the pace wasn’t the same as it is now, so it looked even harder to even think that. So it was nothing that was on my mind until free agency in 2010, when we started going through the process of free agency, there was nothing on my mind until then about even playing together. A lot of people think we came up with it, I wish we were this smart. Like, we go with this plan like we’re building it from 2004 to 2008, but we weren’t that smart.”

When it comes to star relationships and brotherly bonds, LeBron and Wade are at the top of the top. They have played together, won together, and partied together. And now, there are taking lighthearted shots at each other through the media. It’s a fun relationship to watch.

As for LeBron, while he might be upset with the joke about his hairline, it would take a lot for something to get in the way of his friendship with James.
