Enes Kanter has been in the media a lot lately. He has attacked the Chinese government, LeBron James, Nike, and Michael Jordan, all with one campaign. So far, he succeeded in making the WTA pull China tournaments over Peng Shuai.
His activism is not a new development, as he told Nypost that he was taught to always stand up for what is right.
“When I was nine years old, my mom told me to always stand up for what’s right — even if it means sacrificing everything. From that day forward, I have always been outspoken. Now I am on a big stage and there are so many dictators out there who are destroying people. God gave me this platform, and I have to use it for the good fight.”
The Boston Celtics big man also recently changed his name to Enes Kanter Freedom as he became an American citizen, But he is not in the news this time because of his civil rights campaign.
On this occasion, he is in the news because his relationship status may have changed. Australian model Emily Sears recently took to Instagram and uploaded a picture of her and Freedom out on what might have been a date. The image was tagged, “bravest person I know.”
According to TMZ, their living situation is not an issue for the new couple. While Kanter is currently living in Boston, the model still stays in Los Angeles.
Emily has been spotted at several of his games cheering him on, even though he has not had a good run so far. He has started only one game this season despite featuring in 2021. He is averaging 4.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 0.2 assists in 13 minutes per game.
Kanter seemed to have reinvented his game while he was with the Portland Trail Blazers where he averaged a double-double in points and rebounds.
