Jenn Tran suffered heartbreak in Season 21 of The Bachelorette and she has now shot her shot with Cleveland Cavaliers forward Max Strus. Tran appeared on the latest episode of The Viall Files, where she admitted she had a crush on Jayson Tatum, but upon learning he’s in a relationship, she switched her pick to Strus.

“I’m switching my celebrity crush,” Tran said. “Max Strus, if you’re out there and you’re single, I’m here and I’m ready… I really like basketball.”

Well, it doesn’t seem like Tran had to wait too long to get a response from Strus. Soon after she made those comments, he followed her on Instagram.

Tran is also following Strus now, so for all we know, these two have already started making some plans. The 26-year-old had made it clear earlier in that episode, though, that she was not ready just yet to go on a proper date, following her messy breakup with Devin Strader, but was open to a “friend date.”

While we know about Tran’s love life thanks to the show, not much is known about that of Strus. The 28-year-old has kept his personal affairs private, but with the swiftness at which these two have seemingly linked up, you’d think he hasn’t been dating anyone recently.

What we know about Strus is his actions on the basketball court. He signed a four-year, $62.3 million deal with the Cavaliers last year following a sign-and-trade from the Miami Heat and had a very productive first season.

Strus put up career-highs across the board in the 2023-24 campaign, averaging 12.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game. He wasn’t quite at his best in the playoffs, though, as Tatum’s Boston Celtics eliminated the Cavaliers in five games in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

As for Tatum, he was the first name that Tran mentioned, as I stated earlier. She believed he was single, but upon being told that he was reportedly dating Ella Mai, she apologized to the Grammy Award winner. Not only do they seem to be dating, but Tatum and Mai appear to have welcomed their first child together this year too.

Who Is Jenn Tran?

Tran was born on Nov. 24, 1997, in Hillsdale, New Jersey, to Vietnamese immigrants and grew up in the area. She attended Pascack Valley High School and played basketball there, which might explain her interest in NBA stars.

Tran then attended the University of Pittsburgh, before transferring to the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She graduated from there in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in molecular biology and later enrolled as a graduate student at Barry University in Miami in the physician assistant program.

Tran would rise to fame when she became a contestant on Season 28 of The Bachelor, which starred Joey Graziadei. She would finish fifth and while that would have been disappointing, she was later announced as the star of Season 21 of The Bachelorette.

Tran became the first Asian-American to be cast in the lead role but the season wouldn’t end well for her. While Devin Strader initially accepted her proposal, he later broke off their engagement to leave her heartbroken. Hopefully, things will work out better if she and Strus end up together.
