Every coach in the NBA has a different strategy to ensure the morale of the players is always high. So does the Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra.
Erik Spoelstra is one of the highest-paid coaches in the NBA. Moreover, he has been handling the coaching duties for the Heat for 15 seasons now. Coach Spo apparently has strange ways to keep the players motivated, and one of them is showing them videos of Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and 50 Cent.
“Tyler Herro was struck by a video that Spoelstra showed them about ‘Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Eminem and how they started, and the manager they had and he was the one rallying the troops, which is Spo [for the Heat],'” Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald revealed. “‘Spo does [this type of thing] every year, but this year has been a little bit more with how up and down the season has been.’”
The Miami Heat are famous for their unique culture. That culture is why Udonis Haslem has spent 20 years with the franchise.
Considering the team’s struggles this season, they certainly need to be motivated in any way possible, and coach Spo’s strategy may work ahead of the NBA playoffs.
Can The Miami Heat Clinch A Permanent Spot In The Playoffs?
The top-five postseason sports in the Eastern Conference have already been decided. However, the Miami Heat and the Brooklyn Nets are fighting for the final permanent playoff spot.
The Heat currently have a 41-37 record and hold the seventh seed in the conference. They are just two games behind the current sixth seed, Brooklyn Nets.
Theoretically, the Heat have a chance at climbing another spot on the table in the season’s final four games to avoid the play-in tournament. But considering the Nets are currently on a three-game winning streak, they will certainly not go down without a fight.
