The Sacramento Kings are landing a terrific player for the 2023-24 NBA season. In hopes to improve their performance from last season, the Californians are finally getting Sasha Vezenkov.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the reigning EuroLeague MVP is joining the Kings on a three-year deal.
“Sasha Vezenkov – a 6-foot-9 reigning EuroLeague MVP – has agreed on a three-year, $20 million deal with the Sacramento Kings, his agents Mark Bartelstein and George Roussakis of @PrioritySports and Nick Lotsos of Team Lotsos tell ESPN.”

Vezenkov is coming from having big performances in Greece and the rest of Europe, leading Olympiakos to the EuroLeague final with his heroics. Vezenkov has earned a reputation in the old continent since he made the jump to a big club, signing with FC Barcelona ahead of the 2015-16 season.
He joined Olympiakos in 2018, where he improved his level year after year until becoming a EuroLeague MVP this past season. Unfortunately, his team couldn’t beat Real Madrid in the final game, missing a big chance to record a nearly-perfect season.
Vezenkov averaged 17.6 points in 40 games played with the Greek side this season and now is set to join the best league in the world to prove his value.
The Kings Come From Having A Big Season
The Sacramento Kings had a terrific 2022-23 NBA season, finishing third in the Western Conference standings, ending their 16-year playoff drought. Sadly, they couldn’t get past the Golden State Warriors in the First Round, ending their Cinderella run.
They will have new chances in the future, and if Vezenkov is able to mesh with his new team, the Kings will be a big threat to the rest of the NBA. This is an interesting signing, but it remains to be seen if it works for the Kings or if Vezenkov becomes another failed experiment in the NBA.
Harrison Barnes re-signed with them on the first day of free agency.
