Giannis Antetokounmpo is the ultimate team player, and he proved it again this week after sharing some words on the EuroBasket 2022 title.

When commenting on how his team (Greece) can beat the defending champs (Slovenia), he shared from his heart as he revealed his mindset about adjusting to his team. He also revealed his mind set on being the best player in the world.

“You can’t adjust 11 people around me. I am not that type of guy. I have to adjust to everybody, I will do whatever my team needs, I will screen, I will play at 5 if I have to. Right now our team is not ready to get a medal. But we have a chance. When the season started in Milwaukee, our goal wasn’t the championship. But we worked hard and we won. I am not the best player in the world. Don’t tell me that I am.”

Humility is one of Giannis’ greatest qualities, and it has helped to shape the Bucks into a franchise that everybody enjoys playing for.

For Giannis, his attitude has made him a model teammate and a fan favorite in the NBA community. Ahead of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semis, Giannis didn’t blink when asked to speak on the biggest game of the season.

“Me personally, I don’t know. I’m gonna watch film in the morning and see,” Giannis said. “We’re gonna think about it. I know we have a great coaching staff, we have a great coach, great minds behind the scenes that are gonna tell us what adjustments to do. But at the end of the day, for me, I just have to go play,” Giannis said. “Go lead the team in any way I can. I want my teammates to play, I want them to have fun, to enjoy the moment.”

While Giannis might classify as being overly humble, he’s fine with letting his game do the talking. The best players have always been the ones who back up their words with strong play, not the other way around.

The Greek Freak is one of the few who chooses to stay humble despite being good enough not to.
