Golden State Warriors And Miami Heat Are Likely Next Destinations For Giannis Antetokounmpo, Not Toronto Raptors

The NBA is over a month away from its return and we’re already seeing big rumors about the biggest stars of the league. In recent days, one of the biggest stories around the league involves Giannis Antetokounmpo and his next team in the association.

Giannis isn’t having a bad time with the Milwaukee Bucks, but the current narrative is that he’ll look for a different team once his contract is over with Milwaukee.

The Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors all have been linked with the Greek Freak, but the competition is only between two of them. According to sports analyst Chris Broussard, the Warriors and the Heat are the frontrunners in the race for Giannis’ services.

“I would put Golden State and Miami ahead of Toronto,” Broussard said on “First Things First” on Tuesday. “Masai Ujiri, the president of the Raptors, native African like Giannis. There’s that connection there. They’re an international team. Giannis, I don’t think has a lot of the same draws that a typical American-born star has, so again, I wouldn’t say Toronto has got a great shot, but I definitely wouldn’t write it off to the degree that Nick [Wright] does.”

Antetokounmpo could join two big teams full of the talents he needs to transcend in the league and win the title. If he goes to the Warriors, he’d be joining Stephen Curry and co., but that trade could cost a lot to the Dubs. One NBA insider recently claimed the Warriors should offer a package around Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins to unlock negotiations with Milwaukee.

If he decides to go to the Heat, he’ll see a team full of young talents and great experienced players like Jimmy Butler and Andre Iguodala. It’s hard to see the reigning NBA MVP joining the Toronto Raptors, though, but this league has shown it can be very surprising in recent times.
