The Charlotte Hornets aren’t typically a team that dominates the headlines but their young big man, Kai Jones, has caused quite a stir after his latest IG live session. Jones, who was seen sporting a teal-colored haircut, recorded himself talking incoherently to the camera in a manner that raised concerns about potential substance abuse.

You can see in the video itself that fans were very confused about what was happening. With no context or explanation in the video, people are fearing the worst for Jones, who seems confident in his future with the Hornets.

In the comments, however, many fans expressed concern over his strange behavior, and some even blamed the Hornets for enabling this type of culture in the locker room.

NBA Fans Freak Out Over Viral Video

In the offseason, players are pretty much free to do and consume whatever they please — but not everybody can handle the freedom. In the case of Kai Jones, whether he was high, drunk, or completely sober, that IG live video is probably something he should have thought twice about. Now, fans are questioning not only his maturity but the maturity level of the entire organization.

Obviously, nobody knows for sure what Jones’ state of mind was in the video, and it’s possible that his thick Caribbean accent has fooled us all into thinking he was less than sober at the moment. Either way, you cannot deny how weird the whole clip is and it really shows how the Hornets franchise is perceived by the NBA community.

The Charlotte Hornets Are A Dumpster Fire Right Now

Kai Jones hardly represents the entire Hornets franchise, but this latest scandal does reveal a worrying trend from Charlotte. Over the past two years alone, they’ve been ravaged by scandals ranging from Miles Bridges’ domestic violence case to long-time owner Michael Jordan selling his stake in the team.

On the court, things haven’t been much better. Last season, Charlotte finished just 14th in the East and there isn’t much hope for improvement after a summer of inactivity.

The only way up for the Hornets is through LaMelo Ball, who has proven himself as a more than capable scorer. If he can just grow as a leader and do a better job of holding his teammates accountable, it could go a long way toward turning the situation around.

Does The NBA Have A Drug Problem?

The modern NBA has implemented many changes over the years, and that includes its drug policy. Today, Marijuana and other less extreme substances are being allowed by the league office but it doesn’t always lead to positive results in the locker room.

“No lie, I’ve traded guys because they smoke too much,” said Mavericks owner Mark Cuban on the Pat Bev podcast. “If you got some young dudes on there that are just figuring it out, smoke some, but don’t know what the team culture is and you got one dude that’s just, you know, if you walk down the hall of the hotel and you know he’s on that floor no doubt about it.”

In the case of Kai Jones, only he knows what drugs were in his body (if any at all) during the time of his video, but he could be facing some serious backlash now after his strange act on social media.
