Isiah Thomas Says Kyrie Irving Is An MVP Candidate

2 Min Read

Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid are widely considered to be this season’s primary MVP candidates, and it’s clear to see why. They’ve got the numbers, the wins, and the talent to end up with the trophy.

But, according to NBA legend Isiah Thomas, there’s another name we should put in the remix: Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets.

Despite the Nets having a star-studded roster, the famed “big three” have been in and out of the lineup all year long. Since the start of the season, it is Kyrie who has played the most, averaging 27.1 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game in 44 games.

Uncle Drew has been a staple for the Nets all season long, and it’s clear his play has helped them cement their status as a title contender.

The question is, will the media be willing to vote for him? Kyrie’s history with NBA media folk is strained, to say the least. At the start of the year, he went on an all-out war with them, at one point choosing to boycott them altogether.

Despite the past, though, Irving still has a chance if he continues to play well and shows the world how good he and his team really are.

It will be interesting to see what else he’ll do in the weeks to come.
