Ja Morant is easily one of the most electrifying dunkers in the league today. Despite being in just his third season, Morant has a deep highlight reel of sensational dunks over veteran NBA players. His fearlessness while flying through the air for a dunk is extremely appealing to watch, which is why he is probably the most in-demand star to be a part of the All-Star Slam Dunk Contest.

The 2022 Slam Dunk Contest was one of the worst in the history of All-Star, with people telling the NBA to add incentives for the best young dunkers to join the field. We haven’t seen some of the best dunkers in the league participate in the contest in Morant and Zion Williamson.

However, Morant seems to have always been firm in his position not to participate in the contest. After being asked about it again by ESPN, they asked Morant how many likes would it take for Morant to agree to the contest. Ja set quite a high target.

This makes it quite clear that Morant won’t be interested in the dunk contest. Considering the dunks he puts up in the middle of games, fans will always want to see Morant emulate dunk contest greats like Vince Carter, Dominque Wilkins, Michael Jordan, Zach LaVine, and others by participating in and winning the contest.

He has previously asked for a million dollars, and now he has asked for a billion likes. As far as the likes goal goes, the most liked Tweet of all time was the tweet that announced the passing of Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman in August 2020. The most-liked Instagram post of all time is the World Record Egg with 55.8 million likes, so it does not look like Morant’s tweet goal will be remotely achievable.

The dunk contest has lost a lot of its shine with the performances in 2021 and 2022, but hopefully, Morant has a change of heart eventually and we see him participate in 2003. Unlikely, but not impossible.
