The NBA world was sent into a frenzy on Sunday when a picture of Jabari Smith Jr. cuddling with a woman went viral. Various accounts on X claimed the woman was his sister-in-law based on the caption of the picture, which raised plenty of eyebrows.

As it spread like wildfire, it came to the attention of Kennedi Brooke, who had posted this picture as a story on Instagram. She stated that she is the sister-in-law, and clarified that the woman in the picture is her sister, who is dating Smith.
“I am the sister in law! I posted him and his girlfriend (my sister) haha.”

You do get people misunderstanding it based on the caption, that Smith was cuddling with his sister-in-law. These accounts that have such a huge following should verify the facts before posting such things, as it can be quite damaging to someone’s reputation.
Also to make it clear for some, Smith isn’t actually Brooke’s brother-in-law. She just affectionately seems to call him that as he is dating her sister. The Houston Rockets forward is not a married man, but hopefully, this does end up being a long and healthy relationship.
Who Is Jabari Smith Jr.’s Girlfriend?
While many NBA players put their relationships out front and center, Smith isn’t one of them. The 20-year-old had kept his relationships somewhat under wraps, but it appears the name of the woman he is currently dating is Jasmine.
Not much is known about when they started dating or about Jasmine’s personal life. What we can gather from her Instagram account is that she either studied at LSU or is currently studying there. Considering Smith went to Auburn, they don’t seem to have met in college, so there’s really not much we can say with a great deal of certainty about her or their relationship.
Jabari Smith Jr.’s 2023-24 Season
Smith was the third pick of the 2022 NBA Draft but didn’t quite stand out from his rookie class last season. He averaged 12.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game, and didn’t receive a vote for Rookie of the Year. He did at least make the NBA All-Rookie Second Team, however.
Now in his second season, Smith’s numbers are pretty much the same as they were last season. He is averaging just 12.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game. Smith has been a lot more efficient, though, shooting 49.7% from the field and 35.7% from beyond the arc.
One of the reasons why his numbers haven’t improved is because the Rockets have better options on offense as of now. Fred VanVleet arrived in free agency this year while Alperen Sengun has taken a big leap as a scorer as well.
Houston does not need to rely on Smith’s offense and he seems to have agreed to take a bit of a backseat on that end of the floor. He has also shown improvement on the defensive end, which is good to see.
