Jaylen Brown is once again being clowned on social media over his left hand. A video went viral on Instagram recently of Brown missing five shots in a row with his left during warmups before the game between the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks on Saturday night.
NBA fans blasted Brown as he continues to struggle with that left hand.
One can’t understand how a pro can be this bad with their weaker hand, “Idk how you can be a professional basketball player and can’t use your opposite hand? Like I can literally shoot with both hands. It’s not hard.”
A fan said this is bad for the NBA level, “No cap, this is bad for the NBA level.”
One found it crazy just how bad Brown’s left hand is, “Generationally bad left in the NBA is crazy.”
A fan claimed even his left hand isn’t this bad, “Even my left ain’t that bad.”
One fan can’t believe this was real, “No way this is real.”
Well, it is real. I don’t think Brown was giving a lot of effort here, but it doesn’t take a lot of effort to make the kind of shots that he missed. This also occurred just days after Brown was roasted by NBA fans for not being able to dribble left against kids. To the three-time All-Star’s credit, though, he delivered when it actually mattered.
Brown had 30 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal against the Knicks, as he led the Celtics to a 116-102 win. Even if he isn’t all that effective with his left, the 27-year-old continues to be very productive on the court.
Brown, who is now averaging 22.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0,6 blocks per game this season, has played a key role in the Celtics having the best record in the NBA in 2023-24 at 45-12. The issue with him struggling with that left hand, though, really pops up in the playoffs.
Caleb Martin Said The Heat’s Game Plan Was To Keep Making Jaylen Brown Go Left In The 2023 Playoffs
Brown has experienced some incredible highs since the Celtics selected him with the third pick of the 2016 NBA Draft. The lowest of lows, however, perhaps came in the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat. He struggled massively, and after the series, Caleb Martin revealed the Heat’s game plan against Jaylen Brown was to keep forcing him left.
The plan led to him averaging just 19.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game in the series. Brown also only shot 41.8% from the field and 16.3% from beyond the arc while averaging 3.6 turnovers per game.
His poor play was a big reason why the Heat ended up eliminating the Celtics in seven games, and Brown was blasted from all corners for it. The fact that someone who had been in the league for seven seasons at the time could be stifled by being forced to go left was not a good look.
Despite his woeful showing in the series, the Celtics gave Brown the richest contract in NBA history, worth $304 million over five years. He certainly hasn’t disappointed in the regular season after signing that deal, but it will be interesting to see how Brown fares should the Celtics face the Heat in the playoffs this season.
