Jaylen Brown attempted to clear the air over his earlier comments about his Team USA snub in favor of Derrick White. Brown noted that his comments were not at all a slight on White, and he even called him to clarify the same and wished him the best for the 2024 Paris Olympics. He added that he and White are on good terms and there were no hard feelings on either side.
“Absolutely, I called Derrick (White) right away. Just to make sure there’s no confusion, my love for you and all of that. He knew that he did. You don’t gotta always make anything public, but me and D-White are good.”

It’s good to hear that Brown and White haven’t let the situation with Team USA affect their personal friendship and camaraderie. This news will cheer up Celtics fans, who must have been worried about Brown being snubbed in favor of White could have led to a series of events that would disrupt their team chemistry.
While Brown isn’t upset with Derrick White over the situation, that doesn’t mean he isn’t frustrated by the whole ordeal. When the news first broke that Team USA had picked Derrick White to be Kawhi Leonard’s replacement, Brown made a cryptic post on social media.
Brown even called out Nike for what he feels was their alleged involvement in the decision, as Nike is one of Team USA’s most powerful sponsors, and Brown is an Adidas signature athlete. However, that theory unravels when you consider that Anthony Edwards, Joel Embiid, and Stephen Curry are all signature athletes for other brands, and are still on the team.
Jaylen Brown Snubbed Because Of Fit And Role
Team USA’s managing director Grant Hill addressed Brown’s absence from the team. He noted that while he and the rest of Team USA’s selection committee have respect for Brown as a player, they had to make a decision that would best serve the team and that he can’t just pick all the superstars in the NBA for the team.
“Guys who’ve been Finals MVPs, guys who’ve been a part of the program, guys who’ve won gold medals, guys who I respect, admire, and enjoy watching. But the responsibility that I have is to put together a team and a team that complements each other, a team that fits a team that will give us the best opportunity for success.
Brown, on his end, has experienced some real positive things in the last few days. He was a big presence at the ESPYs, showing up with former WNBA star Kysre Gondrezick and winning the ESPY for best championship performance at the event.
Brown will probably enter the next season with an even bigger chip on his shoulder. The fact that he was left off Team USA despite being the reigning Finals MVP has really irked him, and he will want to prove to the decision-makers at Team USA why that was a mistake, and that he should have been the first name on the sheet.
