It is not common for married couples to not sleep in the same bed, but Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and her husband Jay Mohr are one such couple who do not. During an interview with Graham Bensinger, Mohr revealed why they sleep separately.

“When you’re home alone in your bed it’s like, guys are gross,” Mohr said. “We just make sounds, we sweat, the sheets get all wrinkly and weird. It’s like, ‘Aw, just let her sleep like a princess or a Barbie still in the box.’ She doesn’t need to be subjected to me, and my wrestling sweatpants, just belching in my (sleep).”

(starts at 1:08 mark):

That’s quite an interesting reasoning there, to say the least. Mohr and Buss do stay in the same building, but it has three units. She resides on the top floor while he is on the first floor, with another couple staying on the second.

Buss stated that they prefer this arrangement as they like having their own space and have different schedules to follow. One of the two can just hop into the elevator to meet the other whenever they want and Mohr states they see each other every morning, evening, and night. Buss recommends such a setup to other couples as well.

Jeanie Buss And Jay Mohr’s Relationship Timeline

Buss and Mohr started dating all the way back in 2017, but the couple kept things under wraps for the longest time. They were seen together at Lakers games a few times and she co-produced one of his specials as well, but there was no word on whether they were dating. That changed in September 2021, when Buss publically stated her love for Mohr on Instagram.

On December 21, 2021, the two publically announced their engagement. Then just under two years later on September 3, 2023, they got married in a private ceremony in Malibu.

This isn’t the first marriage for either of these two, but they’d be hoping it’s the last. Buss was previously married to volleyball player Steve Timmons from 1990 to 1993. She was then, of course, famously engaged to Phil Jackson, but he broke off the engagement in 2016.

As for Mohr, he married Nicole Chamberlain in 1998, but they got divorced in 2004. He then married Nikki Cox in 2006, but they split after 12 years in 2018.

Jeanie Buss Refuted Dennis Rodman’s Claims That The Two Dated

Another individual whom Buss was thought to be in a relationship with at one point was Dennis Rodman. He himself made that claim, but Buss stated she was not dating Rodman, but instead was keeping an eye on him.

“I did not date Dennis Rodman…He became a member of the Lakers. When my dad brought on Dennis Rodman to the team it was kind of like let’s make sure that we know where he is at all times. So like if it’s about, you know, hey where are you going to be tonight?”

“Okay, we’re all going to this restaurant or we’re going to this club or we’re going to this beach or we’re going to wherever Dennis is going to be. You could say it was dating to say that it was, you know, making sure that I had an eye on him.”

Rodman certainly was someone who you needed to keep an eye on at all times. It wasn’t something Buss would have to do for too long, though, as Rodman only played one season with the Lakers, which was 1998-99.
