Jimmy Butler is not a part of Team USA’s roster for the Paris Olympics and has been having a blast this offseason. Earlier this month, Butler spent time with some Brazilians and ended up having a hilarious conversation with a youngster.

Kid: “Good afternoon.”

Jimmy Butler: “Did you call me African?”

Kid: “No, afternoon.”

Jimmy Butler: “Oh, good afternoon? Good afternoon. I thought you said, ‘You were a good African.'”

With English clearly not being the kid’s first language, you get why Butler misunderstood what he said. Thankfully it was all cleared up soon enough. The Miami Heat star had quite a few other hilarious interactions with the kid and the group as well. In one clip, Butler was asked to juggle a football but failed at the task.

In another clip, the group witnessed one of their Ferraris being towed by the cops.

As for that kid, he could be seen jumping out of the car and dancing with his t-shirt off in a clip. Butler hilariously facepalmed when he witnessed that.

It seemed like Butler had a lot of fun with this group. The 34-year-old has also been traveling around a lot this offseason, it would appear. He has spent time in Spain, Germany, and France this month in what seems to be a European tour of some sort.

Jimmy Butler Is Not Signing An Extension With The Heat This Offseason

Earlier this offseason, reports indicated that Butler wanted a new deal from the Heat, but the front office wasn’t too keen on giving him one. His age and injury history would explain why and it appears both sides have now decided there will be no deal signed is the summer. NBA insider Shams Charania reported Butler will not extend his contract with the Heat.

“Jimmy Butler, he’s going to play out next season under his current contract with the Heat. I’m told he will not be signing an extension with the Heat or any other team ahead of his opt-out in 2025 free agency and this clears up any notion of a trade demand out of Jimmy Butler.”

“He intends to play out next season. He has an affinity for Miami, wants to be with the Heat next season, so he has two years remaining on his deal. $49 million this upcoming year, then that player option in 2025 for $52 million.”

“And I’m told Jimmy Butler is absolutely determined to have a big season next year and set himself up for a major payday in 2025. free agency when he can sign the deal four years up to $240 million.”

Butler averaged 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game for the Heat last season. The six-time All-Star only played 60 games due to injuries, though, and he has now failed to play even 65 games a season since joining the Heat in 2019.

I would have reservations about giving Butler a big deal even if he stays healthy next season, but I don’t see the Heat letting him leave. Unless he misses a huge chunk of the 2024-25 campaign, I expect him to get the deal he wants.
