During the game between the Miami Heat and the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night, a fan sitting courtside asked Jimmy Butler to score 20 points so that he could win his bet.
“20 man, score for me,” the individual said. “Jimmy I gotta pay my mortgage.”
He learned the hard way that Butler does not care about your bets.
“I don’t give a f***,” Butler responded. “I paid mine. I bought my house cash.”

With Butler standing in the corner, the fan told him to hit a three-pointer on the play, but the ball never came to him, and the video ended soon after. He and so many other players would be getting a bit tired of all these fans by now. With sports betting so prevalent these days, players get hounded by them over these bets at the arena and on social media as well.
Considering this fan could afford courtside seats, I would say he wouldn’t actually have a problem paying his mortgage, even if Butler didn’t get to 20, and it turned out he didn’t. Butler ended the night with 15 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals, as the Heat won 108-102.
Kings Players Told Fans They Don’t Care About Parlays
As I mentioned, fans are getting a bit out of hand nowadays when it comes to getting at players over bets. Some Sacramento Kings players seem to be getting really sick of it at this point, with Malik Monk bluntly stating he doesn’t care about it.
“IDC bout y’all parlays.”
Idc bout yall parlays

His teammate Davion Mitchell agreed with him as well.
“That part!”

While I can understand their frustration, at the end of the day, a bit of the blame lies with the NBA as well. They are in bed with betting agencies that get promoted during the games themselves. If the league itself is encouraging fans to bet, then it’s inevitable that a situation like this one will arise.
Jimmy Butler Is Off To A Slow Start In 2023-24
Getting back to Butler, the 34-year-old really isn’t the kind of player you want to bet on during the regular season. He tends to take it a bit easy and is also not the type who cares too much about his numbers. Butler plays within the system to help the team win, but he’s off to a particularly slow start this time around.
The six-time All-Star is averaging just 18.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game while shooting 43.2% from the field. He has averaged over 20 points per game in each of his last three seasons, so it is a significant drop-off, but it’s still early on in the season and he has plenty of time to turn things around.
With Tyler Herro, who was their leading scorer at 22.9 points per game this season, going down with an injury in the game against the Grizzlies, Butler might have to take things up a notch right away. The Heat revealed that Herro suffered a Grade 2 ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, so it is unclear when he’s going to be back.
It makes it tougher for the Heat to keep up this winning run, as the win over the Grizzlies was their third in a row, which improved them to 4-4 on the season.
