Joel Embiid Is Not Happy With The Philadelphia 76ers: “It’s Hard To Win When You Don’t Have Your Star Completely Bought In”

The Philadelphia 76ers aren’t going through the best moment right now and they haven’t since the start of the season. On and off the court, the Sixers have been struggling to find consistency and rumors suggest a major overhaul is set to take place after this season is finished. Their bad level has continued in the bubble and everything points out that Brett Brown has lost control over the team, which is heading to a first-round elimination against the Boston Celtics.

One of the main stars of the team, Joel Embiid, is clearly not happy about the things going on with his team. According to ESPN’s Doris Burke, the big man is not ok with the team this season, especially after they let JJ Redick and Jimmy Butler go in the offseason. Last year Philly was a serious contender in the East and this year is the complete opposite.

Embiid and Ben Simmons didn’t fit as expected, the lack of shooting has hurt the team and Embiid feels like he’s alone. During a recent appearance on the ‘Keyshawn, JWill & Zubin Show‘, Burke discussed Embiid’s current situation with his team (27:15 minute mark).

“Joel has signaled to me and on JJ Redick’s podcast, as the series has gone through the first couple games, his feelings about where the team is and I think it’s hard to win when you don’t seem to have your star completely bought in,” she said.

These Sixers don’t look like the ones that reached the Eastern Conference semifinals last season and were close to beat the Toronto Raptors that won the championship a couple of weeks later. That was a very good team but management decisions dismantled that and brought the team to this stage. Losing JJ Redick and Jimmy Butler was always a big deal for Embiid and now time has proved him right.

He’s not happy and if things don’t change, we may see Embiid requesting a trade soon.
