Joel Embiid On Defending The Perimeter: “I’m Better Than Any Bigs When I Really Try.”

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is having a great season with his team. Although he missed a series of games due to injuries, the big man has been one of the best players in the league this campaign.

He keeps showing his talent and versatility on the court, having a big game against the Houston Rockets, who put a lot of pressure on him, but nothing worked for the Texans. Embiid looked unstoppable in the Sixers’ 135-115 win over the Rockets, even though he had to defend the perimeter and not the paint.

It wasn’t a big deal for him, and Embiid admitted he’s better than a lot of bigs in the league when he comes out of the paint to go defend the perimeter.

“I’m pretty good guarding the perimeter. I’m better than 90% of the bigs, and I’m better than any bigs when I really try,” Embiid told reporters, via Heavy. “So, I don’t have any problems, but if you’re gonna do that, that means you’re gonna give up a lot on the offensive side.”

The Sixers are still fighting to get that No. 1 seed in the East, and they’re making sure to take their rivals off the court in recent games. Doc Rivers’ team is doing things pretty well, dominating opponents, led by an unstoppable Embiid.

“I think it’s good and it’s not because I want to play as much as I can and just make sure that I’m ready for the load in the playoffs,” Embiid said. “I’m going to have to play 36, 38 minutes a game, so I just want to make sure that I’m also ready. When we get back, I got to do my old conditioning.”

This man boasts great confidence, and he’s ready to go at it against anybody. JoJo knows that not every center can leave the paint because that is often a massive problem. Recently, we saw Rudy Gobert getting cooked by Devin Booker, and the Cameroonian doesn’t want to be one of those.
