John Collins Believes That He And Trae Young Are The Best Young Duo In The NBA

2 Min Read

John Collins is confident in his talents and his teammate’s Trae Young. The Atlanta Hawks have these two as their biggest figures and even though the results haven’t been the best for them in recent times, Collins believes no other duo in the NBA is better than him and Young.

Collins was asked about the biggest reason for his defensive growth in his third season.

He says he felt like he didn’t credit for being injured during his 2nd season, and he said that hindered his quickness and athleticism.

Says being healthy was a big part of it.

Collins says he believes he’ll be in All-Star contention next season.

He also says he believes that he and Trae Young are the best young duo in the NBA.

It’d interesting to see why Collins believe that. The Hawks finished the season with a 20-47 record, the second-worst in the East. The league is full of young duos right now, including Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics and Lonzo Ball and Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans.

The difference between Collins and Young and these duos is that the Celtics and Pelicans still have a chance to compete when the NBA resumes play.

Young averaged 29.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 9.3 assists in 60 games this season. Collins posted 21.6 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game for the Hawks. However, the results haven’t been with them, so it’s hard to agree with Collins’ claims.
