Miami is well-known as a party city, and it seems as though there is always something to do while visiting or staying. The same is even more true for NBA players, and we have often heard wild stories about NBA players partying in that city.
Recently, former NBA journeyman John Salley opened up on his experience partying during his time on the Miami Heat. He recalled an instance where a large number of women came to the Miami Heat players’ hotel, and added that they also ended up partying at Madonna’s house during his time on the team and in the city as well. The girls came to the hotel. There were just women everywhere trying to get to the Miami Heat players… It was my favorite time… I was just about to get married, was the only part wrong with the whole thing.
Madonna was hanging with us. We’d go to Madonna’s house, Madonna was having parties.
There is no doubt that this is wild to hear, and it is clear that John Salley had a good time during his tenure with the Miami Heat. Some other players have had similar experiences, and it is clear that Miami is absolutely a party town for NBA players.
Other Players Have Had Wild Experiences Partying In Miami
Once, Stephen Jackson revealed a funny story from his time with the Charlotte Hornets. He revealed that he once partied all night until 8 AM in the morning while in Miami with his teammates. The coach managed to smell the alcohol on them when they came into morning practice and ended up canceling the practice, telling them to win the game in the evening. The Hornets ended up winning by 30.
“Let me tell you a funny story of us in Miami. We played in Orlando and fly to Miami after the game. We get there at like 12:00. We had like 3 SUVs parked at the airport. We went straight out, our practice in the morning was at 9:30. We get back to the hotel at like 8-8:15 am. Everybody’s supposed to go to their rooms and get their practice stuff. Half of the people went straight to the bus with the clothes we had on from last night, everybody’s drunk,” Jackson recalled, via Basketball Network.
“We go to the court [during practice], and the coach was like, ‘Bring it in!’ We were supposed to be out there warming up and nobody dressed after that. Coach sniffed us. He smelled and knew [what was going on] and was like, ‘Get back on the bus! We not gonna practice but we better win tonight!’ We came out and won by 30. Some people can just do that,” Jackson added.
There is no doubt that partying is absolutely a part of the lifestyle when it comes to being in the NBA. We frequently see them have a good time in the city, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Obviously, the priority for all NBA players should be basketball, but occasional partying does no harm to anyone. There is no doubt that there will be plenty of Miami NBA party stories in the future, and it is almost inevitable that this happens.
