Jordan Poole has made it to the top of the mountain in many ways, he is an NBA champion and was a significant contributor in terms of making it happen for the Golden State Warriors. His elite ability to shoot the ball and score when the Warriors need has earned him a lot of praise throughout the season, with many going as far as to nickname him ‘Kid Splash’.

The Splash Brothers, of course, where the name is derived from are Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Both are among the best shooters to ever play in the NBA, and their influence on Poole cannot be overstated. While Curry is the obvious comparison that Poole gets, he has also learned a lot from playing and training alongside Klay Thompson.

Speaking recently, Poole addressed what it’s like for him to be mentored by Klay, opening up on their relationship and going on record to say how happy he is for the ability to learn from one of the greatest to ever shoot a ball.

“He’s his own person, and for him to embrace me at such a young age and kind of take me under his wing, teach me his tricks and show me his blueprint is really special, and I’m glad to be a part of that.”

Poole has a long way to go till he achieves the legendary status that his teammates have, but he has shown the potential to hit those heights if he continues to grow at this speed. Poole shot over 36% from three during this season and hit some massive shots in the playoffs, so he’s set himself up nicely moving forward.

The Warriors’ core has dealt with injuries and they are all getting older, so the young guard might have to start taking the reigns sooner rather than later. Poole has already burst onto the scene, but if Jonathan Kuminga and James Wiseman can take the next step as well, Golden State might just be back in this place sooner rather than later.
