Kevin Durant didn’t bat an eye at Anthony Edwards’ celebratory antics following the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Game 3 triumph over the Phoenix Suns. Edwards’ DX celebration, made famous by the wrestling group D-Generation X, came after the Timberwolves secured a commanding 3-0 series lead with a convincing 126-109 victory.

“You win the game, do whatever you want.”

When questioned about Edwards’ exuberant display, Durant showed no signs of disapproval. Instead, he acknowledged that winning teams have the liberty to celebrate as they see fit, suggesting that Edwards and the Timberwolves had earned the right to revel in their success on the court.

In the game itself, Edwards put on a stellar performance, notching 36 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals, leading all scorers. The balanced scoring effort from the Timberwolves saw four of their five starters reaching double figures, with contributions from reserves Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Naz Reid as well.

On the other side, Durant tallied 25 points, along with five assists and four rebounds, while Bradley Beal and Devin Booker chipped in with 28 and 23 points, respectively. However, their efforts were not enough to overcome the Timberwolves’ dominance.

With the Suns now facing a daunting 3-0 deficit, their hopes of a miraculous comeback appear slim. No team in NBA history has ever managed to recover from such a deficit, making the task ahead of Phoenix seemingly insurmountable.

As the series progresses, Edwards and the Timberwolves may have more opportunities to celebrate their success, while Durant and the Suns find themselves fighting to avoid an early playoff exit.

Kevin Durant Is Fighting For His Legacy

Kevin Durant’s legacy is on the line as he finds himself in a dire situation, facing the possibility of being swept in the playoffs for the second consecutive season. After experiencing a disappointing exit with the Brooklyn Nets last season, Durant had hoped for redemption with the Phoenix Suns.

However, his aspirations have been met with adversity once again as the Suns now trail 0-3 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

For Durant, these playoffs represent more than just another postseason run; they serve as a critical juncture in his career trajectory. Departing from the Golden State Warriors, where he claimed two NBA championships and earned two Finals MVP awards, Durant aimed to forge his own path and solidify his status as the league’s premier player.

However, the Nets’ playoff collapse last season, followed by the current predicament with the Suns, has raised doubts about Durant’s decision to leave the Warriors. Skeptics question whether he made the right choice in pursuit of individual accolades and personal glory, rather than continuing his reign atop the basketball world with a dynasty in Golden State.

Now, facing the prospect of another postseason sweep, Durant must confront these doubts head-on. He is tasked with proving to himself and to the basketball world that his departure from the Warriors was not in vain, that he can lead a team to success on his own terms.

For Durant, avoiding a sweep is more than just salvaging a series; it’s about safeguarding his legacy. It’s about demonstrating resilience in the face of adversity and showcasing his ability to rise to the occasion when it matters most.

As the Suns fight to stave off elimination, Kevin Durant knows that the stakes are higher than ever, and he is determined to leave everything on the court to preserve his place among the game’s all-time greats.
