Kevin Durant Lauds Luka Doncic: “He’s Just Smooth Out There. He’s Seeing Everything Before It Even Happens.”

Kevin Durant is a big admirer of Luka Doncic. The Slovenian player has been getting more and more attention during his first three NBA seasons, earning a lot of praise due to his big performances for the Dallas Mavericks.

One of the biggest fans of Doncic is Kevin Durant, who has never hidden his admiration for the young player. Back in 2020, Durant had already stated that Doncic ‘was a problem’ and nothing has changed for him this season.

During a recent edition of his ‘The ETC’s’ podcast (via Eurohoops), KD talked about the former Real Madrid player, going deep to explain why Luka is special.

“He’s just smooth out there. He’s seeing everything before it even happens. He can dictate every pass that he wants. He’s got a nice pace.

“He can get you up in the air because everybody is pressing him. He might get a foul on one play—boom, you loosened up now. He gets into the paint, pump-fakes you, you jump, pump-fakes you again because he’s moving so slow, one leg fade. His pace is so incredible to me. …

“He’s deceptively quick too. He’ll get around you fast, he’ll slip around you fast for a layup, then slow down. That’s how he gets a lot of fouls too. He’ll act like he doesn’t have any athleticism.”

This season didn’t start the best way for the Mavericks. First, they struggled to get things going, and even now, they are trying to find the way for Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis to become the dangerous duo that can lead this team to compete in the West.

Still, Luka has demonstrated his talents once again. Even though he didn’t fulfill the MVP expectations around him before the season, the European guard keeps doing incredible things on a nightly basis.
