  • Kyrie Irving was following Luka Doncic’s FIBA World Cup performances
  • Doncic has been in prime form in the exhibition games
  • Irving and Doncic will play together again for the Mavericks next season

Kyrie Irving was all praise for his Dallas Mavericks teammate Luka Doncic on Twitch, and while at the hit, he did roast fans saying none of them could guard the Slovenian superstar.

As Doncic gears up for the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Irving who had a look at the 24-year-old’s moves on the floor noted how good his mate was offensively.

“Nobody in this chat can really guard Luka tho.”

The 31-year-old was watching the highlights of the game between Slovenia and Montenegro where Doncic recorded a triple-double with 34 points, 13 rebounds, and 14 assists.

That said, Irving will be a disappointed man when he learns that Doncic will not suit up against the USA in the Saturday exhibition team. The guard has been rested for “precautionary reasons” and that will be a dampener for everyone who would tune in to catch the marquee contest.

Doncic has been in scintillating form leading up to the FIBA World Cup. Prior to the Montenegro game, he notched 21 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists in a 98-91 loss against Greece.

Now, it remains to be seen if he can carry the team to the distance when they start their campaign against Venezuela on August 26.

Can Kyrie Irving And Luka Doncic Deliver A Championship For The Dallas Mavericks?

Come the 2023-24 season, all eyes will be on Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic as they look to lead the Dallas Mavericks to an NBA championship.

Despite being in stellar touch, both the guards couldn’t get Dallas to the playoffs this past season after Irving’s trade from the Brooklyn Nets ahead of the trade deadline.

While Irving averaged 27.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in his 20 games with the Mavericks, Doncic averaged 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.0 assists from 66 games. Despite their offense, the Mavericks were undone on the defensive end.

The Mavericks have some changes ringing in this season, and with Irving set to play with Doncic from training camp to hopefully a longer run over the course of the season, the team will believe they stand a chance to get their hands on the silverware.
