LeBron James On Capitol Riots: “We Live In Two Americas… And That Was A Prime Example Of That Yesterday.”

2 Min Read

LeBron James is anything but happy with the recent events taking place in America. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar has been very outspoken about racial issues and political matters in the country and this time he didn’t hide his frustrations with the events happening across the US.

James reacted to the Capitol riots that took place on Wednesday, venting his frustrations with the way things were handled, how everything developed and the condemnable outcome that followed a Donald Trump rally in Washington D.C. on Friday.

“We live in two Americas,” James said Thursday following the Lakers’ 118-109 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, via ESPN. “And that was a prime example of that yesterday, and if you don’t understand that or don’t see that after seeing what you saw yesterday, then you really need to take a step back — not even just one step, but maybe four or five, or even 10 steps backwards and ask yourself how do you want your kids, or how do you want your grandkids, or how do we want America to be viewed as? Do we want to live in this beautiful country?”

James even explained that the situation would have been very different if the protectors were black people, even saying how everything would have been if he and his family were the ones rioting the Capitol.

“If those were my kind storming the Capitol, what would have been the outcome? And I think we all know,” James said. “There’s no ifs, ands or buts — we already know what would’ve happened to my kind if anyone would have even got close to the Capitol, let alone storm inside the offices, inside the hallways.”

This situation shocked the country and the rest of the world. Plenty of NBA players reacted to those riots, some using very strong words to the people breaking into the federal building and asking for justice for those that did wrong on Wednesday.
