LeBron James reportedly posted a story on Instagram in which he sent the message that he is one ring behind Michael Jordan.

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers won the first-ever NBA In-Season Tournament on Saturday night. Not too long after, James reportedly posted a lyric on his Instagram story. It appears he was trying to send a message that he was now just one championship away from tying Michael Jordan, who has six rings.

“N****s talkin’ ’bout when this gon’ be repeated. What the f***, bro? I’m one away from Michael. N***a, beat it, n***a, beat it, what?”

LeBron's IG Post - Drake Lyric - Deleted

For those unaware, these lyrics come from Drake’s “First Person Shooter”. The lyric was about him being one away from tying Michael Jackson, who has 13 No. 1’s on the Billboard Hot 100 Songs chart. Interestingly enough, he tied Jackson with this very song, which made it a bit outdated.

As for LeBron, if he did indeed post and then delete it, that’s quite interesting. Did he want to put that message out there or did he realize it sounds a bit silly, so deleted it? Well, we’ll never know.

While James and the Lakers deserve a lot of credit for winning the tournament, it obviously can’t be compared to winning the NBA championship. That’s a lot harder to do and LeBron would know that as well.

LeBron James Sparked A Debate On Whether Austin Reaves Had A Better Flu Game Than Michael Jordan

Anthony Davis deservingly stole all the headlines in their 123-109 win over the Indiana Pacers in the final, as he put up 41 points, 20 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 blocks. The second-leading scorer for the Lakers, though, was Austin Reaves, who finished with 28 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists off the bench.

He apparently did so while being sick and LeBron sparked a debate on who had the better flu game between Reaves and Jordan. It was in jest, of course, as there isn’t much to debate.

Jordan’s famous flu game was Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz. He had 38 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block on that night to lead the Bulls to a 90-88 win.

Could LeBron James Win His 5th Championship In 2023-24?

While LeBron isn’t one ring away from tying Jordan as of now, he could be next year. The Lakers had a disappointing start to this season, but with some of their injured role players now back in the fray, they are looking like the team we expected them to be.

The Pacers lead the NBA with an offensive rating of 123.5 and the Lakers’ defense shut them down in the final. Indiana shot just 36.8% from the field and 24.4% from three as they really struggled to find ways to score against L.A.

If the Lakers can play defense at that high level or anything even close to it, they will make a deep playoff run. Meanwhile, on offense, LeBron continues to shine, as he is averaging 25.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game this season.

You can count on him to improve on those scoring numbers as time goes on and if Davis can just be consistent on offense, you would give them a good chance to win it all. LeBron falls short of Jordan in a career comparison as of now, but I wouldn’t put it past him to inch closer to the Chicago Bulls icon.
