LeBron James has put up some monster performances this season, on his way to leading the league in points. The King had another vintage game against the Washington Wizards on Friday night, scoring 50 points and helping the Lakers to another much-needed victory. The environment around the team has been quite toxic this season, and no one knows that better than James, who is still the best player on the team at age 37.

So when he was speaking about his historic performance after the game, LeBron James dedicated it to the Laker faithful, explaining that he wanted to give them something to cheer about. He also went on to validate some of the constant criticism, claiming that fans of the franchise can tell when the team is playing bad basketball.

“The Laker faithful know if bad basketball is being played, and they know if good basketball is being played. They have a right to respond any way they want.”

Lakers fans have not pulled any punches with the team this season, booing has been heard at the Crypto.com Arena in 2022. The team has been subjected to quite a bit of harsh criticism as well, especially Russell Westbrook. So while James may be right in saying that the fans have a right to respond in this way might not be the best idea considering how obviously upset Russ has been.

In any case, this is one of the days that Lakers fans can feel good, the Wizards are a decent team and a win over them is good for the franchise. As they get closer to the play-in, some momentum could go a long way for them if they want to realistically make it to the playoffs this season. Bron might not love how the fans react should they miss the playoffs entirely.
