R&B star Usher’s Super Bowl LVIII halftime show on Sunday was a spectacular one, and Brooklyn Nets guard Lonnie Walker IV loved it, for the most part. When asked about the spectacle, Walker said he was only upset about Usher hugging Alicia Keys during it.
“I loved it,” Walker said. “I called my mom. I called my best friend, yeah he did it. But I mean, I’m a little upset because you can’t be touching on Alicia Keys like that.”

Usher certainly did raise eyebrows when he hugged Keys from behind, as she is married to music producer Swizz Beatz. You can check out the incident, which occurred at the end of their rendition of their 2004 hit “My Boo” below.
Usher did receive a fair bit of criticism for that, but it appears Walker did not expect that his comments would be taken too seriously. When they started going viral on X, the 25-year-old joked that it must be a slow news day.

NBA players do have to be careful about what they say, especially when it comes to stars in other industries. Walker, who has averaged 11.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game this season for the 21-31 Nets, will certainly think twice before opening his mouth from here on out.
Swizz Beatz Reacted To Alicia Keys And Usher’s Performance
The hugging incident aside, there was one other moment that stood out when Keys was performing, which was her voice cracking during the solo of her 2003 hit, “If I Ain’t Got You.” With the focus shifting away from her performance to the hug and the voice crack, Beatz took to Instagram to defend his wife.
“Y’all talking about the wrong damn thing !!! Y’all don’t see that amazing dress covering the entire stadium. Tonight’s performance was nothing but amazing with 2 amazing Giants! Congrats Usher and my love Alicia Keys that song is a classic. We don’t do negative vibes on this side we make history.”
If Beatz doesn’t have an issue with the hug, then no one else should. He wants everyone to celebrate what was a special night and performance instead of focusing on things that do not matter. Apart from Keys, the likes of H.E.R., Jermaine Dupri, Lil Jon, and Ludacris joined Usher on stage as well, and they delivered a memorable halftime show.
As for the game itself, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime to repeat as Super Bowl champions. It was just the ninth time in NFL history that a team had won back-to-back titles, and the Chiefs will now aim to be the first team ever to win three in a row.
