Luka Doncic and Slovenia just had their miracle run in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics ended. Slovenia lost to France in the second semifinal game of the men’s basketball tournament in a tight game that went down to the wire. The final score ended up being 90-89 in France’s favor after Rudy Gobert swatted away a potentially game-winning layup from Klemen Prepelic to seal the win for France.

Doncic had a great tournament with Slovenia, as he continued his undefeated streak with his home country, before losing to France in the semifinal. Doncic was clearly upset, visibly distraught by the loss. And it appears from some reports that Luka was not happy with the result of the game, and even questioned the officiating.

According to Marius Milasius, he was interviewing Slovenian player Ziga Dimec after the game. Milasius asked Dimec what happened to the team in the fourth quarter that led to their collapse, as Slovenia went cold in the final few minutes. Doncic appeared and yelled “FIBA happened” before walking away. Milasius added that Doncic was visibly frustrated during the game, and kept repeating that FIBA is happy about the result of the game, suggesting that they wanted a Team USA vs France final for the Olympic Gold Medal.

” ‘FIBA happened’ – Luka Doncic yelled after I asked Ziga Dimec to summarise the end of the 4th quarter of the Olympics semifinal. Luka was raging in the mix zone and repeated several times that FIBA is happy about the result.”

Luka had a poor game by his standards. He did notch another triple-double during the game, but he had a poor night shooting the ball. Luka went 5-18 from the field and 2-9 from the three-point range. In the end, he put up only 16 points. Where Doncic excelled was the playmaking end of things, putting up 18 assists for his teammates. He also got 11 rebounds. But the game will be remembered for the poor shooting night that he had against France.
