The Kevin Durant trade is one of the biggest trade deadline moves in NBA history. It is clear that this was a move that altered the landscape of the league, and the Phoenix Suns should be considered the favorite in the Western Conference.

The Phoenix Suns had to give up Mikal Bridges in the deal for Kevin Durant, and it is easy to see why. He was a DPOY candidate during the 2021-22 season, and he is clearly a valuable two-way player.

Some players would be mad at their team for trading them, but it seems as though Mikal Bridges understands that the NBA is a business. He recently delivered his take on getting traded for Kevin Durant, noting that he’d “probably” follow through with that deal.

“It’s KD. I get it. 100% get it… Just being a realist at the end of the day… You’re getting Kevin Durant. I’d probably make that trade, too.”

Generally, players like Kevin Durant aren’t available often, and it is easy to see why the Phoenix Suns decided to go for it. Durant can be a difference-making player in the team’s pursuit of a championship.

Chris Paul Explained Why Kevin Durant’s Acquisition Is Huge For Suns

Previously, Chris Paul explained why getting Kevin Durant was huge for the Phoenix Suns. He noted that Durant “loves the game”, making him a good fit with himself and Devin Booker due to their own love for the game.

“I’m excited, man. I’ve been knowing KD for a long time since he was a camper… He’s one of the best players to ever play the game, and just to know how he approaches the game, just like his nickname, he’s easy money. Just somebody who loves the game like that. I think that’s what got me and Book [Devin Booker] together, because loves to hoop. KD, he just loves to hoop.”

From a talent standpoint, it is hard to see most Western Conference teams matching up well with the Phoenix Suns. They are definitely one of the best teams if not the best team in the league on paper, though obviously, they will have some gelling and chemistry-building to do before the playoffs.

It remains to be seen how well the Phoenix Suns will do in the playoffs. They obviously got much better with the addition of Kevin Durant, and perhaps he can be the superstar that helps them win a championship this year.
