Russell Westbrook is a player that often divides fans and analysts. For some, he is viewed as an inefficient player who is prone to hurting his team by turning over the ball. Others point to his superb playmaking ability and his triple-doubles as positives.
While a lot of fans tend to attack Russell Westbrook, he definitely has his respect from other players. After the Los Angeles Lakers – Charlotte Hornets game, Miles Bridges claimed that he doesn’t understand the hate towards Russell Westbrook, and lauded his ability after getting asked why it was hard for the Hornets to close the game. He reminded everyone that Westbrook has made the Finals and won an MVP, and added that he’s a “great player”.
Russell Westbrook. He gets all the hate in the world but you got to praise the man. He’s an MVP in this league, made the finals. He’s a great player, man. All the hate he gets, I don’t get it. But yeah, Russell Westbrook did a great job.
There is no doubt that Russell Westbrook is overall a positive presence on the basketball court. He sets up shooters well and is lethal in transition. He is also a fantastic rebounder for a guard, and there’s no doubt that he’s a good point guard. Others, like Draymond Green, have also spoken up to defend Russell Westbrook in the past due to him always being blamed for the Lakers’ problems by media and fans.
Russell Westbrook hasn’t necessarily fit next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis thus far, but it is clear that he showed what he is still capable of when helping the Los Angeles Lakers try and win the game while putting up 35 points.
Perhaps we’ll see the Los Angeles Lakers figure things out and make a push to be out of the play-in tournament spots. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are out injured right now, and hopefully, the Lakers can develop some semblance of continuity once they return.
