New York Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson has an interesting theory on why an NBA basketball’s color becomes brown after it is put to use in games.

“It’s got dirt and bacteria. People here don’t wash their hands. There’s a few people in this league that wash their hands. A few of them. But I can. I do. I wash my hands.”

It’s a wild statement to make that the color of the ball goes from orange to brown because the players have dirty hands. It sounds quite bizarre to me as well that a certain section of players in the NBA do not wash their hands at all.

If you are wondering why Robinson was even talking about something like this, the backstory here is a hilarious one as well. A few weeks ago, the 25-year-old was asked by Fred Katz if the orange-colored basketball would be difficult to spot on the bright orange court that the Knicks had for the In-Season Tournament.

Robinson’s response to the question was that he felt the ball was brown in color. His teammates Jalen Brunson and Isaiah Hartenstein stated that the color changes from orange to brown once it gets used, which led to this explanation from Robinson on why it happens.

NBA Fans Hilariously Reacted To Robinson’s Comments

As far as wild comments from NBA players go, this one might be near the top of the list. Robinson’s remarks quickly caught fire on X and NBA fans hilariously reacted to them.

One says Robinson should have kept this information to himself.

A fan joked that Robinson was talking about teammate Julius Randle.

One fan perfectly showed how Robinson’s teammates would have reacted to these comments.

One fan says they lost brain cells after reading this.

One can’t believe Robinson said something like this.

Robinson had to know that these comments would create a storm on social media. He is actually a very funny individual, so it could also be quite possible that he said it on purpose to get that kind of reaction online.

Mitchell Robinson’s Season With The Knicks

With Robinson, you always know what you’re going to get and this 2023-24 season has been no different. He’s averaging 6.2 points, 11.2 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game, and has been the anchor on the defensive end for the 10-7 Knicks.

They are fifth in the league in defensive rating (108.7) and it’s largely thanks to Robinson. The big man is also dominating on the offensive glass as he always does. He leads the NBA with 5.8 offensive rebounds per game and no one else is even averaging 4.5 per game.

Robinson has been tirelessly working for the team on the court, but his camp doesn’t seem to believe he is being rewarded for it. Robinson’s trainer called out the Knicks on Instagram for him not even being used as a lob threat on offense. He wondered what happened to sometimes rewarding bigs for working hard.

Robinson himself had openly stated his displeasure with his role on the Knicks last season. To his credit, he is working as hard as ever on the court despite clearly not being happy about the situation that he finds himself in.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
