Mychal Thompson’s love for the Los Angeles Lakers is big after playing with the franchise and working with them following his retirement. The Bahamian tried to get his son, Klay Thompson, to like the team at a very young age, apparently succeeding. However, things didn’t go as Mychal wanted when Klay’s time to play in the NBA arrived.

Recently, the 66-year-old shared an old pic of baby Klay with a Lakers hoodie, just imagining how his son would have looked like if he played with the purple and gold.

“See? I TRIED to make him one…But the Dam Warriors got to him first…” Thompson captioned the pic with.

The post drew a lot of attention and fans reacted to it, with some saying it’s not too late to get Klay to the Lakers while Mychal made it clear that the Splash Brother has found his place in the world and he’s not leaving the Bay.

In recent weeks, we’ve seen several rumors linking Stephen Curry with the Los Angeles Lakers. Now Mychal tried to do the same with Klay but just like with Steph, that’s not happening. The loyalty of those two players is huge and given all the success they have had with the Warriors, it’s extremely hard to see them leaving the organization, even less to go play with the Lakers.

At least Mychal tried, but the Warriors knew they had a gem in Klay and didn’t miss the chance to land him.
