NBA Agent On Kristaps Porzingis: “His Brothers Are Cancer. There Is A Reason Every Team Wants To Trade Him Sooner Rather Than Later.”

2 Min Read

As a young, offensive juggernaut, Kristaps Porzingis should be one of the most lucrative assets in the NBA. For the Mavericks, despite his struggles, he has been putting up some impressive numbers — 20.5 points, 8.2 rebounds per game.

But with KP’s trade value still relatively low, many are wondering if there’s more to his story than meets the eye.

And, in a chat with Wizards analyst Quinton Mayo, one NBA agent explained why the situation with Porzingis remains complicated.

“His brothers (agent) are cancer, you don’t want that. There is a reason every team wants to trade him sooner rather than later.”

For those that aren’t aware, KP has two brothers, Martins and Janis — the latter of which also serves as his agent. According to the anonymous source, his brothers must not be a whole lot of fun to have around, and may have actively played a role in his exit from the Knicks and, now, the trade rumors involving the Mavericks.

For as much talent as Porzingis has, no team wants to welcome a toxic situation in the front-office or locker-room.

Aside from the sexual assault case, and one situation with the Knicks (in which Martins threatened to send Porzingis back overseas if he wasn’t traded) there is no instance we know of that paints him or his brothers in a bad light.

But it seems this is one situation that we don’t yet have all the pieces.
