Luka Doncic is one of the few players in the NBA that have been consistent throughout the season with their performances. In his young career, Luka has already established himself as one of the best players in the league.

Additionally, Doncic carried that form to the playoffs as well. After getting knocked out of the postseason early in two seasons, Doncic has finally managed to cross that hump this season.

He has led the Mavericks to the Western Conference Finals, where they have locked horns with the Golden State Warriors. While the Warriors are certainly the favorites to win the series, fans expect a close series.

But looking at Game 1 of the series, the Warriors looked completely in control of the series. They held Doncic to 20 points with a poor shooting performance. It’s something that we don’t see Luka do a lot.

Finally, it seems like the reason for that poor performance is out of the box. NBA announcer Kevin Harlan revealed that he had heard that Luka Doncic was battling sickness throughout the previous night of the first game. He believes that was the reason for Doncic’s underwhelming performance.

Via NBCS:

“I hear he’s sick today. I guess he was up most of the night and ill. I’ve heard it now from two different people so I’m assuming it’s probably true. The body language that he showed, just the zest that he showed in Game 7 in Phoenix, was not there last night. And I’m not sure if perhaps he was under the weather. He didn’t play like he played in the Suns series, that’s for sure, and he needed every ounce of what he gives them, and that was not apparent.”

If this is true, then this spells trouble for the Dallas Mavericks. Unless Luka Doncic is at his full strength, there is a very slim chance that the Mavs can defeat the Warriors.

Hopefully, Luka gets healthy before the next game and can once again mesmerize fans with his amazing ability to play basketball.
