NBA fans ranked who had the best peak between Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Steve Nash, and Derrick Rose.

It hasn’t happened too often in NBA history that smaller guards have found a way to dominate in the league. It has certainly become a bit easier for them to do so now, with the changes in the rules, and Stephen Curry is undoubtedly the greatest small guard to dominate the game in the modern NBA.

There have been others who have had phenomenal stretches, too, and fans on Twitter were asked to rank four such individuals, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Steve Nash, and Derrick Rose.

One of the more popular takes among fans had Paul at the top, followed by Nash, Westbrook, and finally, Rose.

Another just switched Paul and Nash’s positions from the first list.

A fan believes Rose had the best peak while Paul had the best career.

Westbrook deserves to be top for one fan who wanted to remind everyone of the triple-double seasons.

A fan believes Paul in his prime is easily the best among this group.

This is actually not an easy foursome to rank at all and it explains why fans were so divided. At their peak, all four individuals were great, but at the same time, there are factors that work against them as well.

Who Had The Best Peak?

When you take a look at their biggest accomplishments, it is somewhat close. Westbrook perhaps has the strongest case, as he has won an MVP to go with two scoring titles and three assist titles. He also had multiple seasons in which he averaged a triple-double which further solidifies his case for the best peak.

Nash, meanwhile, won two MVPs and five assist titles. He was also the most efficient among this lot, with four seasons in which he had 50-40-90 shooting splits, something the other three never managed to do. Rose perhaps has the weakest case due to his peak being cut short by injury issues after he won MVP in 2011. Had he stayed healthy, who knows how great his peak could have been?

Paul is the only one here without an MVP, but he did win five assist titles and six steals titles. He was easily the best two-way player in this group at his best, and that has to count for something as well.

The one thing about all four of these individuals, unfortunately, is that they never won a ring. Nash’s chance has passed him by and he admitted it hurts him to this day. Will Westbrook, Paul, or Rose win a ring before they’re done? Paul is just about as desperate as anyone can be and he is probably the one best positioned to win it next year if he is still on the Phoenix Suns.
