The NBA has some of the most impressive and explosive athletes in the world, but they’re not the only sports league that can boast of that. The NFL requires athletes to be built differently from basketball stars, but their physical attributes are incredible. And players in both leagues at times show that their impressive athleticism can translate across sports.

LeBron James could have been a star in the NFL and even had offers from professional teams to switch sports. And there have been many examples of NFL players tearing it up on the basketball court. Star wide receiver DK Metcalf provided the latest example, throwing down an epic dunk on the break during the All-Star Celebrity Game.

This wasn’t the only impressive thing about Metcalf’s performance, he ended the game with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Metcalf was named MVP for the game too and helped Team Dwyane to a narrow victory. The NFL star’s entertaining play caught the eye of a lot of fans, with many saying he could even play in the NBA.

NBA Fans Had Some Hilarious Reactions To DK Metcalf’s Epic Dunk During The All-Star Celebrity Game

Most football players think they could play basketball if they chose to and to be fair, most NBA players think they could thrive in the NFL as well. Neither of those is necessarily true, but great athletes would excel at any sport they choose to pursue. And while most players would say Metcalf can’t play in the league, fans weren’t quite so sure after watching him dunk.

“He’s better than Ben Simmons no lie.”

“Give him Jamal Murray’s contract.”

“DK Metcalf would flatten the soft defenders in today’s NBA.”

“DK Metcalf, you are a Laker.”

“Get this man on an NBA roster.”

“Football season over, Metcalf joining the Suns for a championship.”

“Punched it on both ends. And got 10.3 100m speed. What an incredible athlete.”

“I always wondered kind of career a guy like Lebron could have had in the NFL. DK Metcalf might be the answer to my question.”

“DK out there looking like Zion’s replacement lmaooo.”

“Cut Ben Simmons, sign this dude lol.”

“Wow he punched that one.”

There’s a lot more than athleticism that is required to make the NBA, and Metcalf wouldn’t be able to hang at that level. But the fact that he can pull this off is a testament to his skill and ability, and it’s nothing to sneeze at. With the NFL season being over, for now, DK could think about signing a quick contract after all.
