Michael Jordan was regarded as the undisputed greatest player of all time until LeBron James started to catch up to him.

But even after playing 20 seasons in the league and numerous accolades, many still believe LeBron is yet to surpass the greatest of Jordan. An NBA fan on Instagram recently posted a graphic featuring a quick comparison of the two superstars’ careers.

Upon seeing the graphic, other NBA fans were quick to share their honest reactions to it. Most fans claimed that Michael Jordan is still the GOAT of the NBA.

“Number of times MJ left his team and created a super team – 0,” a fan wrote.

“I would rather buy a ticket to watch MJ play,” another fan commented.

“Finals losses are better than getting bounced before the Finals,” a fan protested.

“With all my respect, but there is no way to compare them, MJ is the king,” a fan crowned Michael Jordan as the king of basketball.

“Not even a competition. Jordan single-handedly changed the game and, at the same time, dominated it. No one will come close,” a fan commented about Jordan’s impact.

“Better champion, not a better player. 1 vs. 1 in their primes LeBron would walk all over MJ,” a fan gave an interesting answer.

“In a much shorter period of time as well,” a fan wrote.

“Jordan left with three, came back, and got three more,” a fan appreciated Jordan for winning two three-peats.

“He’s just far from qualified to be compared to MJ,” a fan thinks.

“MJ, the best of the best,” a fan declared.

“Also, Jordan played in an era where actual men played with real man rules,” another fan added.

“Facts. Michael Jordan is the GOAT,” another fan commented.

“The one and only GOAT, MJ!” a fan strongly announced.

All things considered, most fans still believe that LeBron James is yet to surpass Michael Jordan as the GOAT of basketball.

Why? A quick look at Eddie Bitar’s career comparison of the two legends can provide the answer. As of now, LeBron has four NBA Championships, four NBA Finals MVPs, and four regular season MVPs. On the other hand, Jordan has six NBA Championships, six NBA Finals MVPs, and five regular season MVPs.

It’s obvious that there’s a full Hall of Fame career gap between the two superstars. Even if we compare LeBron and Mike’s individual abilities, the latter reigns supreme. Mike is a better scorer, shooter, and defender than James. LeBron is a better athlete and has more longevity than Mike.

But considering Jordan’s amazing defense, handles, and outplaying opponents in a 1 vs. 1 situation, there’s still no actual debate for James being better than ‘His Airness.

James is currently 38 years old and could probably play for a couple of more seasons before he bids farewell to the NBA. Can he surpass MJ as the GOAT in that time span? Theoretically, yes. But practically? Most likely, no.

LeBron James May Retire From The NBA This Summer

In the 20th season of his career, LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to the 2023 Western Conference Finals. However, the Lakers were given a brutal beating by the Denver Nuggets as the Purple and Gold were swept in the series.

Following the embarrassing 4-0 sweep, LeBron hinted at potentially retiring from the NBA this summer. He is yet to provide confirmation about his future, but most believe it was a ruse by the King to distract the media and fans after getting swept in the Conference Finals.

James averaged 28.9 PPG, 8.3 RPG, and 6.8 APG during the regular season. So he still has some gas left in the tank and could try once again to win the fifth NBA Championship of his career.
