The Los Angeles Lakers seemed doomed when Anthony Davis went down with a foot injury earlier this month. The star big man was on an absolute tear as played at an extremely high level and the Lakers proceeded to lose 4 games in a row in his absence.

They somewhat rebounded by winning 2 of their next 3, with the latest win coming over Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks. LeBron James was simply spectacular in the game which delighted Lakers fans and they had gotten some good news prior to this game as well. Head coach Darvin Ham gave an encouraging update on AD’s injury and the man himself stated that the pain has gone down a fair bit.

(starts at 1:02 mark):

“It’s really just about pain. The pain is still there, I still feel it a little bit, not as much as much as I did before. More like a two (out of 10), trending down to one.”

This is great news for the Lakers. It was initially feared that he would need surgery and would be out for an extended period of time but that isn’t the case. The foot has almost completely healed it would appear and Davis should be back on the court at some point in January.

The Lakers Might Not Make Any Major Trades This Season

With Davis once again dealing with injuries though and LeBron having missed some time as well, the Lakers find themselves in a tricky situation. They would want to make some moves but they don’t have too many valuable assets to part with, except for those two draft picks.

The only way they would be willing to give them up would be if a big star was available who would make them a real contender. If no such deal is on the table, they will ride out the season with this roster, as they won’t be making a trade for the sake of it. LeBron and AD may not like it, but the front office isn’t going to wreck their future unless they know for sure that a move would reap huge benefits.
