Throughout his career, Anthony Davis has been viewed as a “unicorn”, a big man with a versatile offensive skill set. After all, in the past, we’ve seen Anthony Davis do a multitude of things on the offensive end: he’s shown us a solid midrange game, handling ability, and shooting from beyond the arc.

However, an area that Anthony Davis has particularly struggled in during the 2021-22 season has been 3PT shooting. A recent Tweet by Statmuse revealed that Anthony Davis’ 14.8% from beyond the arc, which would make him the worst shooter among players who have had 2 or more attempts a game from 3PT range.

Anthony Davis is shooting 14.8% (4-27) from three this season.

While Anthony Davis may have some shooting ability from range, perhaps it’d be better for him to score on the interior and in the midrange area if he is struggling that much. That being said, Anthony Davis shoots a career average 30.7% on 3PT shots, so it’s likely that his jumper will come back at some point this season. Lots of players go through shooting slumps, it is absolutely normal.

The Los Angeles Lakers as a whole have struggled to start the season, currently sporting a 7-6 record despite a relatively easy schedule. They have missed LeBron James for the last few games, but that is no excuse for some of their abysmal performances, as Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook are still on the roster. Hopefully, the team as a whole improves, Anthony Davis included.

We’ll see what happens in the future with the Los Angeles Lakers, and many of their players have expressed the idea that it will be a “process” for the team to get to where they want to as a championship-level roster. Perhaps they’ll be able to figure things out soon, and Lakers fans will certainly hope that will be the case.
