Cavs Nation

With another season in the books, the NBA continues to add brilliant and powerful individuals to their network.

As per the announcement today, NBA Africa is welcoming former U.S. President Barack Obama as a partner and minority leader, ushering in an exciting time for the program.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) today announced that former President Barack Obama has joined NBA Africa as a strategic partner.

President Obama will help advance the league’s social responsibility efforts across the continent, including programs and partnerships that support greater gender equality and economic inclusion. In this capacity, President Obama will have a minority equity stake in the new venture, which over time he intends to use to fund Obama Foundation youth and leadership programs across Africa.

NBA Africa is basically responsible for the league’s presence throughout the entire continent, where they will connect with its population and provide support in areas including gender equality and “economic inclusion.”

As for President Obama, it really should be no surprise he has joined the NBA family. He has been a basketball fan for decades and has famously chimed in with his thoughts on the game and its players countless times over the past few years.

Just as he did during his Presidency, he is fighting for a better world, one ripe with opportunities, compassion, and community.

No doubt, it will be interesting to see what he does and how/if his presence in NBA Africa changes their dynamic.
